High Street Methodist Church is a prominent community building in the centre of Witney. it is a hub for community events, a meeting place for community organisations and home for some local charities.
High Street’s central location close to free public car parking and to the shops, make the church building a popular venue for events. Ranging from concerts and recitals in the worship area to one-day conferences, workshops and one off meetings. We also have a variety of organisations that book rooms with us on a weekly basis to hold various groups and meetings.
There are a wide variety of rooms particularly attractively priced to charities as well as local clubs and societies.
The worship area with a public entertainment licence for 350 can seat up to 250 persons.
The whole area is carpeted with under floor heating and with comfortable upholstered seats. The staging can be set out in a number of configurations using flexible staging blocks. It has a P.A. with hearing loop, a good quality organ and a Boudoir Grand piano. Data protection facilities are also available if required.
Immediately adjoining is a coffee bar with a good-sized kitchen with an adjacent large multipurpose hall with a composition floor. This is available for tabletop sales, drop in groups, exercise classes, exhibitions, meals etc.
At the front of the building, the Wesley Room provides good quality facilities for talks and community use. It seats up to 50 people again in upholstered seats. It is equipped with a keyboard, an upright piano, P.A. and hearing loop system.
At the rear of the building is the Susannah Room, a smaller room ideal for meetings of up to 12 people.
Disabled facilities, a toddler’s toilet and baby changing area as well as ladies and gents toilets are all close to these rooms.
There is a lift to the first floor leading to a large hall with a capacity for about 100 persons with a small kitchen. Separated by six steps there are the Jacob Room and the Kings Room suitable for about 20 people and 8 people respectively. These two rooms can also be accessed by staircase directly from the ground floor.
Also on the first floor is the Radford Room which is the room mostly used by the Childre's Centre. However it is available for hire outside of the times when it is required by them. The room can hold up to about 40 people and has a kitchen area within the room.
There are toilet facilities on the first floor.
We also have three more rooms in the Wesley Centre which opened in November 2013. The focus of this building is on activities involving children and young people but enquiries for other types of event are welcomed.
On the ground floor of the centre is the Bethany Room which can hold up to 35 and has an attached kitchen; and the Amos Room which would be suitable for meetings of up to 20 people. There are also toilet facilities included baby changing and disabled use on the ground floor.
On the first floor is the Mary & Martha Room which can hold meetings for up to 25 people.
All the premises have a current fire certificate and the lift, electrical and gas installations are inspected regularly.
