Leading worship at High Street High Street Methodist Church has services of worship throughout the week as well as Holy Communion early some Sunday mornings. This page however will give you details of what you can expect and what is on offer when leading worship at our main Sunday services held at 10.30am and 6.00pm. Morning Worship at 10.30am If you are planned to come and lead one of our family services you can expect the Junior Church to be in throughout the service which normally lasts around 45 minutes to an hour. Otherwise the Junior Church leave after the second hymn/song and a short prayer. Check out their own site to learn more about them by clicking here. In the morning you can expect to share worship with between 100 and 150 members. What can we offer you? Music - can be provided via our organ, upright piano and/or our orchestra of various instruments. It is possible to come with your own tape/CD player and play music through our PA. For the congregation we offer Methodist Hymns and Psalms and the combined books 1 and 2 of Songs of Fellowship. Any other songs can be shown via overhead projector or with planning - a data projector form laptop. Multimedia - we can provide two data projectors - bring your own laptop or (with even greater notice) we can provide one for you. As mentioned above you can also play Video/DVDs/tapes/CDs through our PA. Drama - can be organised (with notice) Readers - we have a list of members willing and able to read for you Dance - check out our own Destiny dance group - find the link here Prayer - we have many talented people who can write or lead openly with prayer of various types If you are leading us in worship in the morning, you'll be invited to attend one of our monthly Worship Planning Meetings (WPM). This is an opportunity for the worship leaders in a given month to get together with stewards, musicians, the Junior Church and interested members to discuss resources and ideas for individual services. You don't need to have prepared your service before coming - in fact we prefer it if you don't! Just come with an open mind and be willing to share! We base our services around the lectionary as reflected in the Roots material. Click here for the Roots web site. On the night of the SPM we distribute copies of the material and split into groups to suggest to the person leading worship the things that we'd like to try in worship - with their help. Evening Worship at 6.00pm If you are planned to come and lead an evening service then the same music, audio/visual and reader resources are available to you. Drama and dance can also be arranged but need more notice. The congregation in the evening is typically between 10 and 40; there is no Junior Church.
