Many Frequently Asked Questions about what we do are answered in our series of downloadable leaflets - click here to see the complete list. Worship Worship at High Street aims to be inclusive of all ages and all ranges of Christian experience. Each Sunday we meet at 10.30am and 6pm for regular worship. Our services are led by either a local preacher or minister from our own or visiting circuit; there are as many different styles and formats as there are people with something we hope to offer to everyone. Methodist worship has always been characterised by enthusiastic singing and we use the Methodist Church's Hymns and Psalms hymnbook together with the thousand plus contemporary songs found in Songs of Fellowship. In the morning the crèche is always open for the 0-3 year olds and older children can take part in one of our Junior Church departments (see below). On the second Sunday of the month we share together in Holy Communion - you may also have heard this described as the Lord's Supper or Eucharist. We have an open table at High Street which means that anyone who loves Jesus can take part: you don't have to be a member! On the third Sunday of the month we have what we call a family service when everyone is in together for a more informal time of fun, fellowship and praise. In the evening the numbers are smaller providing an opportunity to worship in a more intimate fashion, with more time for reflection and teaching. On the fourth Sunday in the month we celebrate Holy Communion at this service. Worship also includes Open House, our guest/seeker service and worship (but not as you've known it...) for 14-35 year-olds The Event. Visiting preacher? Click here.

Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm and Saturday 10am to noon you can always drop in for a drink and a biscuit. We are well situated within the town and provide a place to rest a while before continuing with the shopping. We also provide drinks after morning worship where you don't even have to pay then!
Crèche Every Sunday morning from 10.15am to the end of morning worship,
children from 0 to 3 years old can be left in our crèche. The crèche is
staffed by up to three volunteers from our congregation who each serve two
or three times every three months. We have a large open room with plenty
of space to crawl about in and explore the wide range of toys, games and
books on offer. For slightly older ones we have ride on toys and a slide.
Mid way through the morning we stop for a drink and a biscuit. Parents can
stay in with their children if they like but we hope the crèche will allow
parents with time to experience the worship away from the responsibilities
of looking after small children.

Lunchtime Recitals
Recitals of classical music are given in the church about once a month throughout the year. They usually take place on Thursdays between 1.30 and 2.30pm. Tea, coffee, etc. are available in the foyer beforehand and people are invited to bring their own sandwich to eat with it. The content of the recitals is organised by professional singer Annabel Molyneaux (mezzo soprano). She herself performs at most of the recitals along with various musician friends. The recitals always contain an interesting mix of music, on a different theme each time, mainly songs but sometimes instrumental pieces. Dates and themes are usually announced up to 4-5 months ahead. Check out the
schedule by clicking here.
Man Friday
In order to make our church attractive for all visitors, we feel it needs
to be kept as warm and welcoming as our own homes. To that end, the Man
Friday group undertake the small, everyday jobs that occur on church
premises, such as changing failed light bulbs, putting up shelves and notice boards, moving furniture, carrying out safety checks, and many other
small tasks for the various groups who meet in the church. Most
importantly, we have a coffee break at about 10.30am when we catch up with
each other's news and put the world to rights!
Open House A bi-monthly service that is direct, jargon free, good news and relevant. Something you can bring anyone new to Christianity and/or Church to - and come yourself! Find out more by clicking here. The Event
