12th October 2002 - Reading Male Voice Choir High Street was home to a concert by the Reading Male Voice Choir (musical director Gwyn Arch, accompanist Clive Waterman), with solo items from Anything Goes (Lesley Morris, mexxo-soprano and Keith Harris, piano and keyboard).
The 70 strong choir has just celebrated its 30th anniversary in that time it has taken part in many festivals and competitions and has appeared on television several times. They tour throughout England, Wales and Europe. They have a unique repertoire, as Gwyn Arch is a prolific arranger of music for male and mixed voices Choirs. A typical concert’s programme includes some old favourites, pieces from many countries and centuries’ motets, hymns, spirituals, popular standards, song from the shows and comic items. Lesley and Keith have been working together since 1994, their repertoire ranges from classical to modern, baroque to blues, including folk songs, Elizabethan, Victorian and songs from the shows. They have performed in a variety of venues both home and abroad – concert halls, stately homes, nightclubs, churches, marquees, hospitals and gardens. |
