18th May 2002 - Internet site launch day
This site was officially launched via an event held in and around the church on Saturday the 18th May 2002 but had been some months in the creating and planning...This page will give you a feel for what happened on the day.

We could have simply unleashed the site on the web and waited to see who dropped by but the whole ethos behind this work was to reach out to people who had no contact with our (or indeed any) church. For many people, church is no longer a part of their lives except at the traditional and major occasions of baptism, marriage and death.

We wanted to be a resource for people as they searched the web for a place in West Oxfordshire to get married or to have their child baptised but also we wanted to share what goes on in the church - the major part of which takes place outside of the building and outside of what happens on a Sunday.

Enough chat! Enjoy the 'photos (a kind of diary of the day) below. If you want a larger image, just click on the small ones shown on this page - beware - as they are bigger, you may have to wait a moment for them to download!
8.00am and the church looks like normal...
Who's that funny chap?
Banners out at the front...
and at the back.
9.00am and the church cleaners are in as usual...
While Richard sets up the music around the back
Badge making "train the trainer session"
10.00am and we're off with a demo on the PC inside - well done Jim!
Face painting...
and another demo inside the lower hall.
Leafleting and stickers outside...
meeting people at their own level...
and at a higher level!
Musicians to start the day off...
get the shoppers moving...
and bring a smile.
Destiny Dance provide the movement...
while the band provide the songs.
Read what the local press said about the day. This article appeared in the Witney Gazette on Wednesday 22nd May 2002.

Who IS that handsome man? No answers necessary...
I also found the event made it onto the Witney section of the Oxford Mail website. You can check out their site by clicking here
